SURGICAL INSTRUCTIONS


PATIENT INSTRUCTIONS PRIOR TO SURGERY
ALL MINORS (17 AND YOUNGER) MUST BE ACCOMPANIED WITH A PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN FOR THEIR PROCEDURE. IT IS HIGHLY RECOMENDED THAT YOU HAVE A RESPONSIBLE ADULT PROVIDE TRANSPORTATION HOME AFTER YOUR PROCEDURE.

ALL DIAGNOSTIC AND SURGICAL CARE PROVIDED WITH SEDATION/INTRAVENOUS ANESTHESIA REQUIRES AN ADULT TO BE PRESENT IN THE OFFICE FOR THE ENTIRE STAY OF YOUR CARE. YOU MUST HAVE AN EMPTY STOMACH (NO FOOD OR DRINK) FOR AT LEAST SIX HOURS PRIOR TO YOUR PROCEDURE.

After your consultation, a detailed surgical treatment plan will be provided for your review. An anesthesia plan will be recommended and you will be given specific instructions based upon your health and any medications you take on a routine basis. It is important not to discontinue any prescription medications unless recommended by our office. For patients with complex medical conditions, preoperative discussion maybe required with your primary care physician and/or medical specialists.

OFFICE SURGERY 

Our office and staff provide a safe and comfortable setting for your care. Every step of your care will be explained to you and our experienced staff are always available to answer any questions and address any concerns. 

The following anesthesia choices are available for your comfort and safety:
  • Local anesthesia only
  • Local anesthesia with Nitrous oxide analgesia
  • Local anesthesia with Intravenous anesthesia 

OUTPATIENT SURGERY AT WEST BOCA MEDICAL CENTER

Please following the anesthesia instructions provided by our office for your scheduled procedure. Your care will be coordinated with the Department of Anesthesia at West Boca Medical Center. If you are having sedation or general anesthesia, you are required to have an empty stomach at least six hours prior to surgery. 

PATIENT INSTRUCTIONS AFTER SURGERY
You will be given general post operative instructions for your scheduled procedure during your consultation. Additional instructions will be provided to you the day of your procedure. If you have any questions or concerns about your post operative care, please contact the office directly during office hours. For after hours concerns, the office paging service will provide directions to contact Dr. Kaner directly. Please follow the directions provided by the phone service.
